This amendment will require a large number of cosmetic changes to the bylaws, basically removing the titles where they appear and replacing them with "a director". Additionally, the table that lists the responsibilities of each director will no longer be segmented. | This amendment will require a large number of cosmetic changes to the bylaws, basically removing the titles where they appear and replacing them with "a director". The following is meant to be a philosophical/ideological change to our organization, not one that will affect our operation in a large way. It helps us clarify the role of the board as a whole and the individuals that comprise it.
One of the goals in creating the SkullSpace was that we have as little hierarchy as possible, we wanted to make it so that no member was special in any sense. The current impression given as a result of having titles for our directors is that in terms of importance the President is #1, the Vice President is #2, the rest of the board is #3-#4, and the membership comes in at #6. For a variety of reasons, we need some individuals to be on the hook for things and be able to take care of a number of details that crop up. We need a board, however there is something we don't strictly need, and that is individual titles for the directors.
I would like to propose that we abolish directors holding individual titles, which will mean that the list of responsibilities that the board has will no longer be segmented by title in the bylaws, but instead be presented as a flat list that the board is responsible for as a whole.
This amendment will require a large number of cosmetic changes to the bylaws, basically removing the titles where they appear and replacing them with "a director". Additionally, the table that lists the responsibilities of each director will no longer be segmented.
For external entities that require a designated individual for certain things, for instance ACU, we can give them the name of the director that has decided to take on the responsibility in question. If an external entity decides to consider that person as having a title, that is strictly their issue, and in no way bestows that title upon the person within our organization.
