In keeping with our tradition of not making rules until we need to, I propose the following amendment. This amendment will make it so that an application will only be rejected if the membership accepts the objections to the application. This will help to ensure that only serious and legitimate objections result in an application being denied.
Current
If two or more members object to the granting of membership to an applicant, the board must not approve the application for membership.
Proposed
If two or more members object to the granting of membership to an applicant, a board decision will determine whether the application for membership will be approved.
If two or more members object to the granting of membership to an applicant, an ordinary resolution of the members will be required for the membership to be approved.
Result
The membership voted against this amendment.
