SkullSpace will be hosting a series of workshops done by Ron Bowes this fall! The first one - falling on Labour Day, September 5, 2011 - will focus on the basics of software, programming, assembly language, and the principles and reasons behind reverse engineering.
Everybody is welcome to attend! And, if anybody takes exceptionally good notes, they're welcome to update this page with notes from the sessions.
This workshop is free, and Ron is donating his time, but we'd appreciate it if you'd bring a $10 or $20 donation for SkullSpace! In these early stages of running a hackerspace, every donation helps us greatly!
The particulars:
- When: September 5, 2011, 6:00pm
- What: Reverse Engineering workshop
- You will need: a laptop (or a friend with a laptop) running a 32-bit version of Windows (either installed on the computer itself, or in a virtual machine)
You likely will not need the laptop for the first session, and at that session we'll talk about some options of how we can set up a lab or something that everybody can use.
VMWare
For anybody who is unable to run 32-bit Windows, your best bet is to install VMWare Workstation. Later versions of Windows lets you run a few days without activation, so that might be enough to solve the problem without any shenanigans.
Further classes
The second session will probably happen in early October - stay tuned for the date!
