The 23rd is the day to have all your stuff out. At that time, we'll be keeping things or throwing them out on whim, so if there are extra things they'll find themselves in the garbage by the end of that week.
 
 
Our projected numbers for the Donald space are pessimistic, in that they don't include new members, and optimistic, in that they assume each member's pledge will hold. We can do it within a reasonable doubt.
 
 
13 Members present were for moving forward with Justin's plan.
 
 
Requirements for people renting desks? Just need a lockable desk with room for a chair. We probably won't build walls around them.
 
 
There's an advertising space where we can put up something informational.
 
We can hang something in the window, too.
 
 
We can't screw anything into the walls, but we've got plans to make movable wall-like partitions between spaces that can stand on their own.
 
There are electrical outlets at regular distances along the walls, so it won't be hard to get all the power we'll need.

*Discussion of lease/renovations: Renovations on hold until the lease is firmly in place.
 
*Problems with the lease – the landlord wants us to take over the entire electrical bill.  Negotiations are ongoing.  The owners are considering our lease offer as invalid because it says it says ‘offer to lease’.  The electrical bill is around $1000 for the building, estimates for our portion is around $800-$900 per month.  Colin and G. Mike had a debate over what constituted a refrigeration device.

*Mark did a rundown on his budget breakdown.  Ron suggested that a strike force be assigned to talk about the budget.
 
*Ron asked everyone to take posters for his “OpenChaos Night”.  Alex will take care of posters at RRC.  Ron admitted he was lame.
 
*There was a discussion of membership numbers and the facility as it pertains to the estimate.
 
*Mark asked if we could all agree that a change was needed.  Colin didn’t want to make a changed based on numbers he thought were off.  Alex suggested hosting more events to raise membership.  G. Mike suggested the problem with that was that there aren’t enough outlets to support that.  Ron agrees that more events are a good idea, and wants to have more events.
 
*Discussion of the AC, whether it was a good idea to run it 24/7, or put it on a timer to shut it down during non-operational hours.

  1. New directors - Ron (President), Ian (finances except member stuff, external liasing), Ben (electronics workspace and generally making the space better), Alex (taking notes [secretary's note: woot]), Courtney (membership, knee-breaker)
  2. (Phoul) 28th (day before Good Friday) video game rave (Varioland)off of Henry starts at 10pm and ends at 6am. Savant is playing, tickets are approximately $35.
  3. Freeze Frame, going well, lots of kids playing with NESchuck,Skullotron. We need volunteers on Thursday. No kidnapping children.
  4. (Ian) CDC - Saturday, 15 kids from Sisler, networking/infrastructure stuff is worked out. MTS gave us $18k of stuff. Chris Kluka provided blades, SAN space, lots of memory/CPU. May the 10th is the real CDC event. Thursday is setup day. Need everybody and friends @ Louis Riel Arts and Technology Center. We could use help on Saturday. Last night governance met, problem: we're not an org, but we have a ton of assets. Going to incorporate CDC group. Right now it has to be held in trust (law firm maybe). Vision is to bring CDC to the national level. Merlin and Daemon Defense hooked us up.
  5. (Ron) Hackaton, march 16, Go Club will be here, Paper Airplane contest. Dan Gange and some IP Lawyer dude and maybe a guy from the copyright beareu (sp?) is going to come in and tell us Open Source sucks because you can't make money off of it.
  6. Regular hackathon is on march 20th.
  7. (Ron) BSides Winnipeg, November 16th to 17th at the Kingshead Pub. Would anybody like to speak? Free drinks, etc. The event will be very big. We need sponsors. Dash9, Tenable, Mozilla might sponsor. We will need volunteers for teardown, we will ask for volunteers closer to the date. Details forthcoming
  8. (Ian) Electrical - Sonoma Electrical (won the bid) will repair the kitchen. Cost is about $275. Will get us two GFI outlets, outlets will be moved, won't risk dying anymore.
  9. Don't leave the skillet power thing plugged in, risk of electric shock.
  10. AssentWorks got ~$467k for some kind of anti-child-pornography initiative [secretary's note: not sure of the name of the grant they received]. He asked if we wanted help applying for the Western Diversifivation grant, Mike Legary and Brittany will write up the grant. [secretary's note: I believe Courtney is taking point on this]


  • (Ian) Defcon plans - more talking will be had. Plan now is to rent a Winnebago and drive it to Vegas. Week long journey to incorporate BSides and Defcon. Related, we are now Defcon group 204.
  • (Nate) Meme cookbook. Nate suggested we do it as a charity thing - - donate most of our profits to a charity. We might have a better chance getting rights for images and might get free work from artists/illustrators/publishers/etc
  • (Jay) Yuri's Night. Sciencey dance party at the April 20th. We were invited to exhibit something. It's a party, so we need a cool hands-on electronics exhibit.
  • (Brittany) We want to rent a table at RRC in the atrium, 11am to 1pm. Might be a good way to get membership up. Jim was going to talk to U of W. it's about $50 for a table. Mak delegated to talk to Jon-- about similar thing at U of M.
  • (Jay) Code camp is coming up. We have a presence there (and even a track). If we want to get enough people together (4 or 5 people), we can do a Skullspace track again.
  • 3D printer - no indication it's not a scam, but payment was made. It should be shipping soon.
