Cupcake Hackathon
Saturday, January 15th, 2011, high noon
SkullSpace is hosting a hackathon on January 15th, 2011 at high noon. We will be participating in the Global Hackerspace Cupcake Challenge. This is an event in which hackerspaces all over the world are baking cupcakes and trying to find the best way to package and ship them at least 1600km away, to another hackerspace. We have arranged to send ours out to BuildBrighton, a space located in Brighton, England (6500km away!).
Other things afoot
In addition to the cupcake challenge, we will be brainstorming and subsequently implementing ideas for a website/service dubbed breachdb. What is it exactly? You'll have to show up to the event to find out!
Getting there
Since we don't have an official space yet, this event is being hosted privately by Mak. His words: "Since this is a private home, and I'm just generally no fun, there's no smoking, booze, etc." We ask that anyone planning on attending RSVP either to the Mailing List or Mak himself. His address is 126 Millwood Meadow and if you get lost, feel free to call him at 204-226-7565 for directions. He happens to live at the edge of the world, so we are organizing some carpooling. If anyone is interested in either driving people or getting a ride from people, please e-mail andrew@andreworr.ca and we'll try to set something up.
Donations
We will be accepting donations to SkullSpace at this event. We would like to stress that this is completely optional and just showing up and being involved is more than enough. That being said, the cost of the postage, cupcake ingredients, etc are all being paid out of our pockets right now and even if everyone just throws in a toonie or something it will help. Also our CFO will be on hand with a copy of the books if anyone wants to see what responsible spending looks like :)
