- 4 large Granny Smith apples
- 2 cups of berries (Raspberries, Blueberries, Blackberries, etc. - fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups white flour
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 - 2/3 cups margarine
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 325F
- Peel, Core and slice the apples (not too small or they'll turn mushy!)
- Combine apples and berries in a large bowl
- Mix one cup of sugar into the fruit and mix well
- Turn fruit mixture into a 12" x 9" baking dish (glass)
- Mix the oats, flour, remaining sugar, and baking powder in a bowl
- Stir in margarine and use your fingers or a fork to blend the mixture together
- Crumble the oat mixture ontop of the fruit, optionally topping with more oats and/or brown sugar
- Bake 35 - 45 minutes, until its golden brown and bubbling at the edges
Serving:
- Serve hot or cold with ice cream
- Serves 6-8 depending on portion size
